In my early 20s, I had two great experiences traveling and living abroad. I spent four months back-packing in Costa Rica the semester before I graduated from The University of Tulsa. After graduating, I worked in Tulsa briefly and then moved to Bogotá, Colombia for a year.

After returning to the States, I worked as a case manager at an inpatient psychiatric hospital before starting my PhD work at The University of Kentucky. Having kids and starting my career made traveling abroad unrealistic for some years. After joining the faculty at The University of Alabama, I had the opportunity to teach a course for the UA in Sweden program in 2013 and then co-direct the program in 2015. My experiences with Study Abroad in Sweden were so positive, I decided to start my own program in Berlin, Germany focused on public policy, politics, and culture.

In March 2023, I traveled to Cuba with the junior cohort of the University Fellows Experience. I look forward to returning to Cuba, as well as re-launching my Study Abroad program in Berlin. Students who are interested in Study Abroad opportunities should email me for more information.
